join指加入某组织或团体，成为其成员之一。如参军、入团、入党等。

eg: We’ll have to join the nation-wide strike too.

我们也得参与这次全国性的罢工。

join in指参加比赛或活动等，常用于口语，此时可与join互换。eg:（这一点要注意，比较奇怪）

Why didn’t you join (in) the talk last night?你为什么昨晚不参加座谈？

take part in指参加会议或群众性活动等，重在说明句子主语参加该项活动并在其中发挥作用。eg:

We often take part in physical labour.我们经常参加体力劳动。

join in与take part in都有“参加(某种活动)”的意思。但join in多指参加正在进行的活动，如：参加竞赛(competition)、谈话(conversation／discussion)、散步(walk)、游戏(game)等。而take part in指参加活动、会议，侧重说明主语参加并发挥一定作用。同时，还作“起……作用”解，此时part前通常有形容词来修饰，part前有不定冠词。如：

The leading group decided to tell all the workers to take part in the strike．

领导小组决定告诉所有的工人参加罢工。

They took an active part in the debate．他们在辩论中起了积极的作用。
